Recovery

That is some incision!  It's 10 - 12 inches long and is closed with staples.  The doctors are watching for infection so Reba is getting antibiotics and all other meds (yeah morphine) through her port.  She can't eat until she passes gas so she is up and walking the floors.  It's a little unnerving to hear such loud burps coming from such a tiny body:)  The gas in her bowels is starting to move but she told me this morning it's painful and the morphine doesn't cut that kind of pain.  She'll keep walking and hopefully it will pass before too long.  Reebs is really hungry and is dreaming of food.  She's looking forward to the hospital chicken broth so she must be starving!  She'll be in the hospital until Saturday.  More later in the week.   Louisa

  2. Yeah for putting this surgery behind you. Here's to putting some gassy outbursts behind you too! :>) Walking the halls at the hospital waiting to "exhale," so to speak, eh? Are the staff and other patients aware of your purpose as you walk by? '>) Keep up the great job!! We're all rooting for you!!! love, Bob

  7. Reba: I was in the same hospital going through the same thing and I remember the gas pains oh so clearly. Those were the worst. It does eventually get better. Hang in there! Do you also the the pretty purse? The one that let's you pee standing up (Lol). I'm not minimizing anything you're going through.....just trying to make you smile. =) I went through a very similar experience and had to have a hysterectomy too. I am cancer free now and I know you will be too! I am continuing to send you good thoughts and prayers your way. Lots of ((((hugs))) to you for a speedy recovery. xoxo

  11. Funny how medical people all LOVE farts and won't let you do anything until you accomplish making loud noises. Hope the gas has passed and food in your belly. Perhaps you will be able to eat beans - that way you get full and can please the docs/nurses! Thinking of you and tomorrow is Saturday. Hopefully, you will be home!

  12. Wow. Hope you feel better soon. If pain doesn't let up, tell them to give you Oxycodone instead. Some people get zero relief from morphine. I watched my Grandparents suffer with cancer and the morphine did nothing. Once it got changed, they had atleast some relief..Praying for you.. Tim C.
